IYPE and the Geological Association of Canada
The Geological Association of Canada was one of the first to support The Year. A series of articles in Geoscience Canada about IYPE theme topics will appear in 2008. The annual GAC-MAC meeting in 2008, which will be held in Quebec City (May 26-28) (www.quebec2008.net), will have a number of symposia and special sessions designated as “A contribution to the International Year of Planet Earth. A “hot topics” media event is being planned for that meeting that will include IYPE themes.
Help us celebrate the International Year of Planet Earth. Tell fellow Canadians about the wonders of geology and explain the importance of what we do to your neighbors, friends, and family, and to politicians and policy makers. Explain our role in “Earth Sciences for Society”. Describe “Where on Earth; Where in Canada”.
