IYPE International
So far nearly 50 countries have established National Committees to plan for The Year. Many of these countries will be having their own special IYPE “launch” events.
Preparations are underway for the Global IYPE Launch Event at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris, February 12-13. There will be a thousand invited guests, including some 350 young students from around the world, as well as geoscientists, ambassadors, senior politicians, and dignitaries. Keynote speakers have been selected for three Sessions: “Population growth and Climate Change: challenges for Planet Earth”, “Earth resources: threat or treat?”, and “Geohazards: minimizing risk, maximizing awareness”.
