The incumbent will be responsible for geo-physical evaluation of identified base metal mines. His key area of responsibilities will be:
- Plan and carryout detailed geo-physical evaluation, interpretation, mapping, cross section and seismic attribute analysis. Plan and execute exploration i.e. drilling activity.
- Ensure correct sampling of drilling cores.
- Sample preparation for chemical minable analysis and physical testing.
- Interpretation of GPS, Satellite Images.
- Assess and identify grade of minerals based on chemical analysis report.
- Eliminate minable ore base of exploration data and interpretation.
- Preparation of geological report based on available data.
- To support plan detailed mineral activity and recovery of minerals or ores.
Desired Candidate Profile:
- The candidate must be M.Tech./PhD in Geology/Applied Geology with15 -20 years of relevant experience.
- Hands on experience of planning geological exploration for identifying the core of mineral as well as minable minerals.
- He should be able to support detailed mining plans, collection of drilled cores and sample preparation.
- He should have sufficient experience in forecasting base on mineral analysis report or surface sample.
- Should be familiar with modern exploration technology.

Assistant/Associate Professor Stable Isotope Geochemistry (Tier II Canada Research Chair)

The Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position in Stable Isotope Geochemistry at the Assistant/Associate Professor level.
The successful candidate will be considered for a nomination as a Canada Research Chair at the Tier II level. We are seeking an individual with wide-ranging research interests in Solid Earth and Environmental Earth sciences. Current areas of strength within the Department, in which research collaboration with the successful candidate could develop, include petrology and geochemistry (mantle, crust and extraterrestrial), environmental and paleoenvironmental studies, radiogenic isotope geochemistry, isotopic characterization of fluids and gases, Earth evolution and biogeochemistry/geomicrobiology. The successful candidate will contribute to these strengths by developing an active research program that includes supervising graduate students, collaborating with other faculty members, obtaining external funding, and teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in geochemistry and stable isotope geochemistry. The Department is equipped with conventional and in situ analytical facilities for stable isotope analysis, including a Cameca IMS1280 ion microprobe.

Exploration Technician
Halo Resources Ltd. is currently recruiting for an Exploration Technician to assist with its VMS project in northern Manitoba.
The applicant will be assisting and working under the supervision of the senior geologist. Responsibilities will include both office and field work. The office duties will include the drafting of sections and maps, sample registration and shipment and database management. Field activities include surveying using DGPS equipment, marking of survey lines and drill collars and assisting with sampling and drill programs. The technician will also assist with planning the use of and operating a 20-person drill camp during the winter season.
Good outdoor, computer and technical skills are required. Prior knowledge of MapInfo is an asset but not required.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collect, document and assess all geological data within a designated area of the mine.
- Conduct independent underground geological mapping and ensure effective grade control on underground beat.
- Maintain adequate geological maps, sections and other records, such as production tracking; assists in overall database organization.
- Assist in all phases of underground drilling programs, including planning, monitoring, logging, sampling and interpreting in 2D and 3D.
- Assist in ore reserve/resource calculations.
- Assist and work with the mine Engineering team and the underground crews to ensure effective and efficient mining.
- Work proficiently in a team environment with minimal supervision.

CBU invites applications for an eight-month limited term appointment in Geology at the lab instructor level in the broad field of hydrogeology/geology commencing September 6, 2010, subject to budgetary approval.

Applicants should have a minimum of a Bachelors Degree in Geology or related science field, plus demonstrated competence in teaching of Geology. Preference will be given to those with industrial and teaching experience in laboratory Geology.
