About Geoscience Canada

• the main publication of the Geological Association of Canada (GAC^®),
• a general interest, earth-science journal that targets the Canadian geoscience community,
• published quarterly,
• free to GAC^® members,
• available digitally to members of the Canadian Society of Petroleum Geologists (CSPG), and
• also available to non-members and libraries by subscription.

The goal of Geoscience Canada is:

"to print general-interest articles about the earth sciences in Canada, or about developments in the earth sciences outside Canada, which are likely to be of special interest to Canadians. These articles will be written at a technical level that can be understood not only by specialist research workers but also by non-specialists in other branches of the earth sciences."

Geoscience Canada contains five types of articles, as follows:

• Review papers, normally ~2000-7000 words in length, synthesize existing information in some field of the earth sciences.
• Series papers, normally ~2000-7000 words in length, are thematic, generally invited, and integrate recent research results with existing information on a specific topic.
• Topical articles, normally ~1000-4000 words in length, discuss the interaction of the earth sciences and Canadian society, or present new research results on a topic of interest.
• Conference reports, generally ~1000-3000 words in length, provide a review of some major scientific meeting and its implications to the earth science community.
• Regular features comprise book reviews and commentary that includes such things as editorials, letters to the editor, and comment and reply; they typically are less than 1000 words.
