Duties: Teach in Fall 2012 (August 13, 2012 to December 28, 2012):
GEOL 111 (Discovering Planet Earth): Tuesday and Thursday 10-11.30 am & Tuesday 1-4 pm alternate weeks
GEOL 200 (Mineralogy): Monday and Friday 10-11.30 am & Monday 1-4pm
Upper 300-Level Course from GEOL 302, 312 or GEOL 308 (depending on experience and timetabling)
Teach in Spring 2013 (December 31, 2012 to May 13, 2013):
GEOL 112 (Understanding Earth – History): Tuesday and Thursday 10-11.30 am & Tuesday 1-4 pm alternate weeks
GEOL 300 (Igneous and Metamorphic Petrology): 8.30 am to 10.00 am Monday and Wednesday & Monday 2-5 pm.

Candidates must demonstrate commitment to teaching, learning and student success through scholarship and institutional service. Successful candidates will participate in a wide range of activities outside the classroom, including student support; institutional, faculty and departmental committee meetings and other initiatives; and professional activities in keeping with their disciplines in and outside the institution.
Required Qualifications: MSc in related field from an appropriately accredited institution. Willingness and ability to take students into the field. Broad appreciation of Earth Science and in particular Environmental Geoscience.
Preferred Qualifications: PhD in related field. A valid Class 4 BC Driver’s Licence and have a confirmed satisfactory driving record (as specified in Vancouver Island University policy and procedures).
