Student Chapter Grants
GAC® Logan Student Chapter Grants
The Geological Association of Canada and the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada strongly support the career and academic advancement of geoscience students. Logan Student Chapters are eligible to apply for annual $500 grants to support activities that contribute to these objectives.
Such activities may include, but are not limited to, field trips to areas of geological interest, career-oriented guest lectures, public awareness of geoscience, and attendance at GAC®-MAC meetings.
Each year, Logan Student Chapters that have submitted a report of activities for the previous year and new Logan Student Chapters are eligible to apply for a grant.
Submit a proposal to Logan by December 1. The proposal should be submitted electronically as an e-mail attachment. It should include:
- Outline of the proposed activity for which the grant will be used. The proposal is to be no more than two pages, single-spaced and must include a summary of the activity, the anticipated number of student participants and a proposed budget (see sample proposal).
- Acknowledgement by the faculty advisor and community advisor that they have reviewed and support the application. Advisors should e-mail their endorsements directly to GAC®
Multiple geoscience clubs that collectively form a GAC® Student Chapter are asked to combine their application and indicate the lead club (the club with the most GAC® members) to whom funds should be sent.
A summary of the funded activity should be included in next year’s annual report of activities.
Assessment of Application
Applications will be reviewed by the GAC® Communications Committee and grants will be awarded based on the merits of the application and availability of funds. Applicants will be notified by email of the committee’s decision by no later than December 30. Successful applicants are asked to inform their faculty and community advisors.
